Step by step

  1. Step 1

    Heat your waffle iron according to its instructions. Whisk the flour, baking powder, sugar and salt in a bowl.

  2. Step 2

    In another bowl, whisk the milk, eggs and oil. Pour into the dry mixture and stir just until no dry pockets remain; a few small lumps are fine.

  3. Step 3

    Lightly grease the iron if its manufacturer recommends it. Add the amount of batter specified for your model.

  4. Step 4

    Cook until golden and the steam has slowed. Lift out carefully and serve, or keep on a rack in a 200°F (95°C) oven while cooking the rest.
